The Human Geography and Urban-Rural Planning program at Nanjing Agricultural University is a four-year undergraduate major that combines human geography, urban and rural planning theory, spatial analysis and sustainable development practice to train professionals who understand the relationship between people, space and the environment. The curriculum integrates courses in human geography, regional planning, urban design, land use management, geographic information systems (GIS), environmental policy and community development, enabling students to analyze social, economic and spatial patterns at different scales and apply planning methods to real-world issues. Emphasis is placed on both analytical skills and practical design, with classroom learning complemented by fieldwork, mapping, case studies and planning projects that prepare students to address contemporary challenges such as urbanization, rural revitalization, infrastructure development and environmental sustainability. Graduates are prepared for careers in urban and regional planning, government planning departments, consulting firms, community development organizations, environmental agencies and research institutions, where they contribute to creating livable, equitable and resilient urban and rural spaces.
