The Human Geography program at Fujian Normal University (福建师范大学) is an academic discipline within the School of Geographical Sciences that focuses on the study of human activities, societies and spatial patterns in relation to the environment and places. As part of the broader geography curriculum, human geography investigates how cultural, economic, social and demographic processes shape spatial distribution and regional development, examining issues such as population dynamics, urbanization, economic landscapes, cultural interaction with places, regional planning, and human–environment relationships. The program combines theoretical knowledge with geographic research methods, including fieldwork, spatial analysis and the use of geographic information technologies, to enable students to understand and interpret the ways humans influence and organize space at local to global scales. At FJNU, human geography is offered at undergraduate and postgraduate levels as part of geography science and related programs, supported by a comprehensive geography discipline system that also includes natural geography, GIS, and urban and regional planning. Graduates are prepared for careers and further study in regional development, urban and rural planning, socio-economic analysis, environmental assessment, and spatial policy, applying geographic insights to address contemporary social and spatial challenges.
