Program Description

Program Description Master of Arts in Economics at the School of Graduate Studies, University of Toronto is offered a 2-years (4 sessions) program. This course is offered on a full-time or part-time basis. This program is designed for individuals who wish to work in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, and also for students intending to pursue a Ph.D. in economics. The Master of Arts is a coursework-only program, i.e has no thesis requirement. The Department of Economics at the University of Toronto is large and highly ranked. The teaching and research interests of its graduate faculty members span a wide range of subjects and cover theory, applied data analysis, and econometric methodology. The faculty and student ratio for this program is 1:19. Additionally, students may take suitable elective courses in statistics, mathematics, computer science, and other allied fields.

Other Requirements

Academic Eligibility: An appropriate bachelor's degree with at least a mid-B (75%) standing in the final year of the program. Successful completion of full-year courses in calculus, intermediate microeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, and statistics. A minimum undergraduate grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 on the equivalent of the last 60 semester hours (approximately two years of work) is required. Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and GMAT to get admission in this program. Indian Student Eligibility: Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria: Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field (Economics, Arts, and etc) from a recognized institution. Completed a master’s degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
