Renmin University of China is a research-oriented comprehensive university focusing on humanities and social sciencesIt is directly under the Ministry of Education of China andis jointly financed and supported by China’s Ministry of Education and the Beijing Municipal government. It can be traced back to Shanbei Public School, founded in 1937 in the midst of Anti-Japanese War. Later it became the North China United University, and then North China University. On December 16th, 1949, advised by the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the 11thAdministrative Meeting of the National Administration Council passed “The Resolution on the Establishment of Renmin University of China”. On October 3rd, 1950, the North China University was renamed as Renmin University of China. It was the first modern university founded by the People’s Republic of China. Eminent educationalists Prof. Wu Yuzhang, Prof. Cheng Fangwu, Prof. Yuan Baohua, Prof. Huang Da, Prof. Li Wenhai, Prof. Ji Baocheng and Prof. Chen Yulu were presidents of the university successively. The current President is Prof. LIN Shangli. Prof. Dr. ZHANG Donggang is the incumbent Chair of the University Council.

How to pay the rent?

You will be asked to pay a deposit of CNY 600 online. A small fee will be charged if you cancel your reservation.

You should pay the rent within 3 to 5 days after your arrival.

Year-based students can pay the rent either with cash or by a Chinese debit card in the first semester (only with cash in the second semester). Semester-based students can only pay the rent with cash.

If you book a single room, you have to pay the rent as a lump sum. You will get refund for early check-out. For double rooms, you can choose to make monthly or one-time payment.

Check in and check out

You may check in up to 3 days prior to the registration day. For instance, the spring semester in 2019 begins on February 18, 2019. Students are allowed to check in from 6:00 a.m. (Beijing Time) on February 15, 2019. You will be informed of the exact check-in date on the website when you book a room.

For early check-in (before 6:00 a.m.) or late check-out (after 12:00 a.m.), you will be charged an extra day’s rent. Deposit will be refunded when you check out.

The reception desk is located on the first floor of G-building (International Cultural Exchange Center).

Notes

To reach Renmin University of China (RUC) in Beijing, you'll fly into Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) (closer) or Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX); from PEK, take a taxi (approx. 1 hr) or the Airport Shuttle Bus (Line 4 to Friendship Hotel stop), while from Daxing, taxis take ~1.5 hrs, or use the Shuttle Bus (to Sitongqiao stop near Zhongguancun) for a similar duration, with metro options also available for both to reach the university's location near Gongzhufen/Zhongguancun.

From Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK):

Taxi: Around 1 hour to RUC, depending on traffic.
Airport Shuttle Bus: Take Line 4 (to Gongzhufen/Friendship Hotel stop), then a short ride or walk to the university.

From Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX):

Taxi: About 1.5 hours to RUC.
Airport Shuttle Bus: Take the Zhongguancun line to the Sitongqiao stop.
