The Master’s in Instrument Science and Technology at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) is a two-year full-time graduate program designed to develop advanced expertise in the theories and technologies of precision measurement, instrumentation, and measurement and control systems. This discipline is an interdisciplinary engineering field that plays a key role in information acquisition, signal conversion and processing, precision measurement, and instrumentation engineering, and it supports high-tech industries and scientific research by advancing methods for signal detection, instrumentation design, and system development. The program aims to cultivate graduates with solid theoretical foundations, systematic specialized knowledge, awareness of development trends and research frontiers in the field, and the ability to conduct independent theoretical and experimental research as well as technological development. Its research orientations include wideband time-domain testing technology and instrumentation, comprehensive testing, diagnosis and prediction of electronic systems, microwave and millimeter-wave testing and remote sensing, integrated circuit testing and design-for-test technology, and novel sensor technologies and precision measurement, providing students with opportunities to engage in cutting-edge areas of measurement and instrumentation research. Students must complete the required coursework, typically totaling a minimum of 26 credits including core degree courses, and conduct independent research culminating in a master’s thesis and defense. The program prepares graduates for careers in scientific research, engineering technology, instrumentation design and development, measurement and control system engineering, or further doctoral study, and it is available to international students with coursework and thesis work conducted under faculty supervision.
