The PhD (Doctoral) program in Chemistry, Life Science, and Informatics at Keio University’s Graduate School of Science and Technology is a research‑intensive doctoral course designed to train highly independent researchers and innovators in the interdisciplinary areas of chemical sciences, biological sciences, and informatics, with a focus on combining these disciplines to address fundamental scientific and technological challenges. As part of the School of Chemistry, Life Science, and Informatics (one of four newly formed schools starting in April 2026), the program allows students to pursue advanced research under faculty supervision, participate in relevant graduate coursework as needed, and work toward original research outcomes that contribute to their field. To complete the program, students are expected to conduct doctoral research for at least three academic years, publish research findings, submit a doctoral dissertation, and succeed in a final evaluation demonstrating scholarly excellence. The curriculum’s interdisciplinary nature enables exploration of topics ranging from molecular chemistry and chemical biology to biosciences and computational informatics, preparing graduates for careers in academia, industry, and cutting‑edge research institutions.
