The PhD (Doctoral) program in Informatics, Management, and Human Sciences at Keio University’s Graduate School of Science and Technology is a research‑oriented doctoral degree designed to cultivate highly independent researchers and innovators in the interdisciplinary areas of informatics, human systems, management science, and related social‑technical fields. Starting from April 2026, the Graduate School has been restructured into four new schools, including the School of Informatics, Management, and Human Sciences, which offers doctoral education across curriculums such as Open Sciences and Industrial and Systems Engineering. In this program, students undertake advanced research under the supervision of a faculty advisor, engage in relevant graduate coursework as needed to deepen their theoretical and methodological foundations, and contribute original research to their field. To complete the PhD, students are expected to study for at least three academic years, conduct significant doctoral research, publish research findings, submit an approved doctoral dissertation, and succeed in a final evaluation. This curriculum emphasizes analysis of complex systems, integration of computational and human‑centred approaches, and application of management principles to real‑world challenges, preparing graduates for leadership roles in academia, industry, and broader societal innovation.
