The PhD in Life Sciences is a doctoral-level research programme offered through the Graduate School of Life Sciences at Toyo University (also known as the Course of Life Sciences), designed for students who wish to pursue advanced, independent scientific research on fundamental and applied aspects of life phenomena. The programme emphasises the deep investigation of biological systems, from molecular and cellular levels to organisms and ecosystems, and supports interdisciplinary exploration across areas such as molecular biology, genetics, ecology, environmental biology and applied bioscience. Doctoral candidates work closely with faculty supervisors to formulate and execute original research projects, contribute to academic knowledge through publication and conference participation, and complete a doctoral dissertation that presents new scientific insights. The programme aims to nurture leaders in life science research and innovation who are capable of addressing societal challenges in health, environment, agriculture and biotechnology at both national and global scales.
