The Master's in Vocal Music: Solo is an advanced graduate program designed to develop highly skilled vocal performers through intensive training in solo singing, vocal technique, musical interpretation, stage performance, and artistic expression. The program covers a wide range of vocal repertoire, including opera, art songs, oratorio, chamber music, and contemporary vocal works. Students receive individualized instruction, participate in recitals, masterclasses, opera productions, and performance workshops, while also studying music theory, music history, diction, and performance practice. Through artistic and scholarly development, the program prepares graduates for professional careers as solo vocalists, opera singers, concert performers, music educators, and researchers in the field of vocal music.

Requirements

An applicant should be a (prospective) bachelor’s degree holder or be deemed to have an equivalent educational background according to applicable laws and meet one of the following qualification requirements.

a) An applicant who completed primary, secondary, and tertiary education in foreign countries (equivalent to all of elementary, middle, and high school and undergraduate school) and earned a bachelor’s degree at an accredited university or is expected to earn a degree by February 2026.

(For example, in Japan, individuals who are expected to complete their bachelor's degree by March 2026 can apply.)

※Those who are expected to earn a Bachelor’s degree in July 2026 or later cannot apply for the program.

b) A defector from North Korea or a foreign national whose parents are also foreign nationals are eligible to apply. Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree from a domestic or overseas accredited university or is expected to earn the degree by February 2026.

※ Those with multiple citizenships or no citizenship are not deemed as foreigners.
